My grandfather used to say that as a young man he always kept a tin cup
tied on his old mule drawn cultivator. When he was out in the hot
summer sun, following a pair of mules down the cotton rows, when he got
out to the end of the row he could hold the cup over the fence into his
neighbor's field and catch a cup of rainwater to quench his thirst. He
did say it with a twinkle in his eye though.
