Hello again,
Awhile ago I brought up the issue of barometer error and a local
person who has been around long enough to have a 3-digit CWOP number
said the barometer problem with the Vantage Pro is a known issue and
he had to "lie" regarding his altitude to get proper readings. Here
is what he said:
"It looks like you have a Vantage Pro. Your pressure was good at 1016
millibars and fell more
rapidly then KLVN. The solution is to lower your Altitude. Example: I
am a 1288 feet. I had to
lower my altitude in the console to 450 feet then adjust the offset
to the correct pressure. This
compensated for inaccuracies in the barometric pressure sensor. Now
it tracks dead on. Try 450
feet and see how it tracks. Adjust your altitude up if its not
changing enough or down if its
changing to much. It took me a while to figure this out but it works. "
Has anyone else heard of this? If I have to "lie" to get proper
readings, I am OK with that. I wrote Davis about the issue and they
never replied.
Thanks,
Lew
