There is no special mode.

 

It is easy to reassign your WinXP com port to a lower number (say COM1 if
you are not using COM1 for anything else).

start/settings/control panel/system/hardware/device manager/

scroll down to ports and pick COM13/properties/port settings/advanced/com
port number

set this to the lowest numbered unused com port.

 

Revise the communication software to use the new, lower, number.

 

Windows assigns a different com port to every device, for each port you plug
it in to.  That's how you get to 13 without 12 other active COM devices.

I don’t want to side track this thread but maybe I can get some help from
this group.  I’ve emailed Davis support twice but have not received a reply…

 

I’m trying to update the firmware on my Vantage Pro 2 wireless (6312).  The
firmware  on my Davis unit is dated nov 28 th 2005. I downloaded the
wireless update  Direct from PC vp2 wirless 04/10/06 (156 kb).  When I try
to install, I don’t see the com port 13 that I need to install via the data
logger (see screenshot)….the highest numbered port is 9 and the port that is
currently installed for the data logger is port 13..see the 2nd  screen
shot.  I am downloading/uploading data to the internet (uFIND and
Underground weather site) so my port for the PC and console is working.  The
2nd screenshot shows how my USB port is setup for weather link.  (screenshot
is not attached to this email)

 

Am I supposed to put the console in some type of mode before running the
update file?
