Hi Alan,

The reason for my post was not to be negative about any station (I don't 
have personal experience with the OSI), just to give the group an idea 
of cost of the Davis in context of overall station costs.

Yes, proper siting/installation makes a big difference for every station 
type's performance.  The only issue of note I have for the OSI is the 
poor design of the solid radiation shield which does not allow venting 
of the sensor which almost always causes an excessive daytime 
temperature measurement.  Many people modify the shield by replacing it 
with a standard Gill shield which greatly improves their data quality.
