Steve,
So what? Do you have any idea why?
Russ and I committed to working with each other to develop the first entry point
server. You had no idea what was going on. It was almost a year after CWOP's
were sending data to my server when you found out. At that time, we kept a tight
lid on our progress. We had a few hundred CWOP's at best. Pete developed the
first ever javAPRSSrvr program at my request. Why? The server program I was
using (AHub) didn't meet my requirements. Pete produced the program in 2 days
after my request. The only Main Core server at that time was SECOND.APRS.NET
that Greg ran in California and it was using a program you wrote. Remember?
Russ will have to correct me on this but, I believe Brian Hamilton was having
difficulties with the only WX program available. He needed code to perform
telnet routines so users could send data to my server. He is the only WX author
I ever helped, to my knowledge nobody else had one. Brian and I
became good friends. He hard-coded the only 'real' server at that time as
AHubWest.net. We were worried that the only main core server couldn't handle
200 WX users. That sysop (Greg) and you (your program), couldn't stay up more
than a few hours. You told Greg that you would not support helping him with
APRSERVE. I felt that the best thing to do was ask Brian to hard-code my server
into his program to be on the safe side. He agreed.
I'll stop here... If I lobbied anyone else PROVE IT. As more and more WX software
programs were written by other authors, they followed Brians lead. If they added
certain servers to their programs ask them why.
Prove the lie that I helped anyone hard-code my server. And I'm sure Brian didn't
do it. He was selling his software, why would he help someone else. Ask Brian.
Brian thought about hard-coding for one reason. Users were having to many problems
figuring out 'how to' themselves. Ask Russ, I think he is capable of the truth.
There was another author that Brian used to fight with. He asked me one time how
to set up the the telnet routine... I refused. This new guy had timing problems and
users couldn't log on. Brian was happy about that <g>. I'm sure he figured it out.
WxDisplay is a fantastic program, even today.
Your interest into the CWOP's didn't start until almost a year after Russ and I were
doing high-five's. I had no idea who Dave Helms was.
You, I and Russ had many ugly emails flying back and forth when you found out
about our success. I never gave in to you <g>. The Main Core was a mess and we
had no confidence in you. Tier 2 wasn't even rolling strong at that time... but I
was sure we need something better than a failing core. You wanted full control
of the CWOP's. Fortunately, it never happened. You were a very bad dictator at
that time. People used to tell me that you would always get the last word and always
would present yourself as some sort of control freak with little network knowledge.
You are the reason everything has gone wrong <g>. Why people tolerate you is
beyond me.
It stops here... Your not going to get your way. Tier 2 will continue to grow and
CWOP's will continue to use Tier 2 servers for a long time to come. Why? Because
some don't like you. You are the total reason for all the disruptions. Almost everybody
is seeing enough of your expressed talent, to draw their own conclusions. You have
created this mess and continue piss people off. What in the world do you hope to
gain?
You're going to destroy the current APRS-IS as we know it today. The game is...
you want Tier 2 to disappear. You don't really care about the CWOP's, just the
control. You don't own me... All this crap about how I destroyed the CWOP program
is in your mind. The attempt to destroy Tier 2 using CW's as pawns ain't gonna
work.
