[wxqc] Intermittent Weather Data

I feel that I should respond as it was my question initially that started
the discussion of the day.

 

I was experiencing data intermittency throughout the day - I was not getting
the 'third' server at all.  My data was being picked up when I hit 'core'
and 'first'

 

This afternoon, after work, taking some of the thoughts gleaned from early
responses I started going through my system

 

First, rebooting the Weather Computer - no status improvement.

Reconfiguring weather computer - no improvement

Only running WeatherLink 5.7.1 rather than VirtualVP, WeatherLink and VWS -
same - no improvement.

 

I then tried pinging rotate.arps.net - idea gleaned from an early mresponse.

Neither my weather computer nor the main computer would get responses - both
timed out.  Sounds like my internet as was suggested.

 I then went and shut everything down, including my modem and routers,
waited a few minutes and restarted things.

 

Started WeatherLink only - reset the transmit to 5 minutes (so it did not
take so long to see results).  Things started working.  Transmissions were
regularly sent as before but this time were received through the system.

 

About an hour ago, I restarted virtualVP and WeatherLink - again, system is
working normally with no drops and no lost adta.

 

I am not sure what I did to clear the problem but whatever, I apologise to
the net for starting something that became controversial.
