Evan,

Thanks for the insight. I will look into this.... I have a temperature
sensor on the front porch connected to a Oregon Scientific gizmo which does
read lower, but only by a few degrees typically. So I'll borrow my
neighbor's (the HVAC guy) psychrometer  and see if readings are
significantly different from the roof for the times in question. Btw,
these Santa Fe style houses have flat roofs with the exterior walls
extending above the roof line. The part of the exterior wall that is above
the roof line is call the parapet.
