When comparing wind gust data, be sure you are comparing apples to apples. The wind sensor only reports the windspeed. The definition of wind gust however depends upon the software being used, because wind gust is simply the highest wind speed reading over some period of time. What that period of time is can vary with the software being used. For instance, if his software was using a 10 minute period for gusts, and yours was using a 5 minute period, his would have higher gust speeds on average than yours.
