For a two day period before Street maintenance could get out and steam the
drains some people had problems. Many streets are skating rinks and black
ice is a big problem on the Highways.

Boy at those temperatures, I can see why you might call it dog mushing.
Are you having any trouble with flooding?

We got down to 14f last night which is pretty cold for this climate.
We'll have alot of damage to plants.

It seem like every time when Pacific storms punch up towards Alaska
you guys
in the lower 48 get to enjoy our weather or out-in-out steal our snow.
Unfortunately, we have mass melting that screws up skiing and dog
mushing
(Iditarod). Temperatures for the past 2 week have range between ~48 to
32
(highs - daytime) and ~34 to 18 (lows-night time).

I have observed on numerous occasions that storms north of Hawaii and
in the
vicinity of Guam get influenced the weather in Alaska. Lows and highs
either or in combination punch out from Guam and or up just north of
Hawaii
towards Alaska causing a bulging effect. This bulge causes cold Yukon
or
Artic air masses to be pushed down through Canada. If you look at NOAA
satellites images you can see this effect.

If this link does not work go to www.arh.noaa.gov and click the GOES
link
and select one of the links to the satellite loops, IR and water vapor
are
the best. From here check out Hawaii's and Guam's Satellite links
