Hi Jeff,
Most precip data gathered by CWOP members is from tipping bucket gauges.
NWS uses tipping bucket technology from many different sources all the time,
so this is not an issue. You do see CWOP precip measurements on the NOAA
MADIS station plot.
Mesowest is run by the folks at the Cooperative Institute for Regional
Prediction (CIRP) at University of Utah which works with NOAA and other
federal, state, and local governments. I think they haven't had time to do
the work to add the precip just yet.
I encourage you to get a 4" diameter manual rain gauge to help monitor your
automated rain gauge performance.

Subject: [wxqc] Davis Instruments rain bucket & Meso West data
My question is how come my rain data is not displayed at Meso West
web-site? I have had the settings set to upload only APRS records. I am
going to try uploading current day rain, rain rate, storm rate but do not
believe this to be correct. Is the reason rain data is not being recorded
because the tipping rain bucket is not NWS approved device? Any input is
appreciated.
